「婚活」時代の著者、白河桃子さんによると、現在、日本の若い女性の間では「専業主婦」のステータスが上昇中とのこと。
いっぽう、イスラムの国では、女性が職業を持つことはむずかしく、めずらしいらしい。Bahrain空港で無料で手に入るBahrain　＆　Beyondという雑誌には、働く若い女性の記事が毎回（少なくとも２回連続）出てた。

A Day in The Life of Ema Mandeel, Aircraft Engineer  Being a woman in a male dominated industry is never an easy feat, but how about when you are the only woman? Ema Mandeel is a 24 year-old aircraft engineer for Gulf Air and is the first female to enter such a role within Bahrain. Ema has been with Gulf Air since December 1, 2004. "I had been doing an Associates Degree in Business Studies at AMA University and was bored out of my mind. This was when I saw an advertisement in one　of the newspapers offering training to become an aircraft engineer and I thought, 'why not?'"･･････

A Day In The Life of Layla Shams, Duty Manager  As a passenger, we often find travelling hectic, and at each airport all we hope for is a few stress-free hours until the next take-off. Usually this includes a stroll through the Duty Free. Although airports are generally dissimilar from the next, what really makes the difference is the staff. Layla Shams began working at Bahrain International Airport 13 years ago. Although she grew up in Bahrain, Layla had previously been working in ticketing with Gulf Air in Abu Dhabi. "Then I came back to Bahrain. At first it was quite hard to find a job, but then I went into Sales at Bahrain International Airport. Within a few months I was promoted to supervisor, then senior supervisor, until a year and half later when I became Duty Manager. This is because my attendance was very good. I believe that attendance and honesty are extremely important at all times."
